A broad background that includes a science degree (Chemistry and Maths), teaching, higher education lecturing, database programming and theatre work as a dancer, helped create a foundation which is ideal, I believe, for a coach and a facilitator of learning and personal evolution.

I was fortunate to receive a demanding, but exciting, trainers’ training in 1990 that set me up to become a principal designer and deliverer of the original Optus Customer Service training in 1992. Since then I’ve had the privilege of working with a large range of major organisations in the public, academic and private sectors.

If I were writing in 3rd person, I’d say something like this: “Peter’s extensive background and unique combination of developed skills and talents qualify him as an invaluable coach, instructional designer and trainer for any organisation which values development and growth, particularly in an environment of change.” That’s a way of suggesting that my experience shows that, through coaching and/or training, I facilitate technical skills, high level communication skills and personal peak performance skills.

The strengths that I bring to my coaching include:

  • being able to communicate with people with greatly different personal communication styles
  • employing years of practised skill in advanced coaching and facilitation techniques
  • adaptability of methodology and approach
  • the skills of an NLP Master Trainer and Coach

The strengths that I bring to my training and facilitating work include:

  • the ability to translate the complex into the practical and usable
  • the ability to combine technical training with ‘soft skills’ training
  • a high-level facilitator’s understanding of what is needed for material to work successfully when used for delivery.

Many of the programs that I have designed and implemented have gone on to become the foundational training outlines and design for major corporate programs involving marketing, category management, customer service, call centre management, billing systems, presentation skills, advanced facilitation skills, emotional intelligence, and self management.

Experience also shows that I excel in providing the complete instructional design and facilitation package: consultation for training needs analysis; technical writing; instructional design; material design and production; and delivery of training. And something I’m particularly proud of: while running the business I managed to complete, and submit on time, a PhD thesis in the field of Cognitive Science.
